24-01-2012 Balfolk Fanatsy Nights

Since the Balfolk Fantasy Nights last year were an overwhelming success, now also other venues want to organize one!

Together with Kelten zonder Grenzen, Ball Noir and Cyberkees (Summer Darkness) we set up four Balfolk Fantasy Nights last year: one on Summer Darkness 2011, two in Tivoli de Helling and one in Tivoli Oudegracht, Utrecht (NL). This turned out to be a big hit and because of that also other cities are interested in organizing a Balfolk Fantasy Night. Awesome off course! Two gigs are already confirmed and maybe there will follow some more… check out our agenda.

We are very excited to conquer the club circuit and to contaminate more people with the balfolk virus! We hope to see you on the dance floor!

09-01-2012 A new year, new music and... a new baby!

First of all: a happy new year! We hope that 2012 will bring a lot of adventures, music, happiness and health to all of you!

Orfeo enters the new year with a lot of new, creative energy and some awesome new gigs to look out to. The coming months though we will be spending most of our time in our rehearsal space to write new songs. This year we will do some more rocking club performances as well as some more intimate semi acoustic shows, for example on april 11^th (1 day after Lies' birthday!) in Café Wilhelmina in Eindhoven (NL).

Also other happy news: Lies and Marco have become a momy and a dady! On November 27^th 2011 their son Lars was born. All is going very well and he can already look back on his first concert visit: The Balfolk Fantasy Night on the 23th of dec 2011 in Tivoli, Utrecht (NL). Lies and Marco are very proud parents and they hope to bring Lars often along when they hit the stage with Orfeo.

Furthermore we are busy with new gigs in our agenda, but we will enlighten you later on this month… keep an eye on our website!

15-09-2011 What are we doing now?

Summer Darkness report:

Our performance on the Balfolk Fantasy Meeting on Summer Darkness (august 2011) was great! At our arrival we were a bit overwhelmed by the beautiful Leeuwenberghkerk. What an honour to play at such a stunning location! These are the fine moments in our musical career. Our profi sound- and light technicians Simon, Wannes en Wijnand went to work immediately and after a couple of hours sound checking we were impatiently ready to perform. Carefully the first visitors entered the church, but soon the dance floor was full. After de dance instruction (a teamwork of Kelt-Coca, Orfeo-Erica and Ball Noir-Marco!) and a beautiful concert of the Kelten zonder Grenzen, Orfeo could go loose on the stage. We had a lot of new material and it felt really good to play them for all the enthusiastic dancers! As always on Summer Darkness there was also a lot of sitting/ listening public and we always appreciate this very much! Ball Noir closed the afternoon with their wild balfolkmusic and then it was done.  Lies was being interviewed by a local TV station. We hope to post the little video they made online someday? The Balfolk Fantasy Nights turn out to be great every time! We are secretely planning something great for comming fall... keep an eye on this website!

What are we doing now?

Orfeo takes a short break right now from performing because Orfeo's Lies en Marco are expecting a little baby! But this does not mean we are doing nothing. Behind the scenes we are busy in Studio d'Or in Noordeloos to compose new tunes. Meanwhile we also try to arrange a couple of nice new concerts to bring our music to you in the new year! Because: being on the stage and let people enjoy our music… is what we love most!

27-07-2011 Balfolk Fantasy Meeting

The Balfolk Fantasy Meeting on sunday the 31th of july is near! A folkbal in a 16th century church, just how cool is that!

The Balfolk Fantasy Meeting is part of the Summer Darkness festival, a fantasy- and gothic dark livestyle event in the centre of Utrecht (NL). There is a lot to do the whole weekend throughout the city (take a look at the program on the Summer Darkness website). The Balfolk Fantasy Meeting is held in the Leeuwenbergkerk, a beautiful 16th century church in Utrecht.

07-06-2011 Celtic Dance Night in a castle

On the 13th of june we play on a new event: The Medieval Castlefest & Celtic Dance Night. It will be on a fairytale-like location: The castle of Henkenshage (NL). In the daylight beautiful and in the night even more romantic! We are looking forward to it!

Medieval entertainment and activities: Bird of pray shows, archery, a medieval camp with several demonstrations and workshops, storytellers and more.
