Interview Richard
Hey Richard, welcome to Orfeo! Our fans obviously want to know everything about you … favourite colour, favourite food, what music you listen to and what is your favourite beer?
My favourite colour is green and my I like almost any kind of food as long as it is a lot, but one of my favourites is lasagne. I listen to a lot of 60/70/80 rock / funk / jazz, (think of The Who, Pink Floyed, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billy Cobham). About beer: I love special Belgian beers and my favourite beer is Afflichem Trippel.
How old were you when you started making music?
I got my first drum lessons on the age of six. I turned those lessons in for secondary instrumental education lessons not much later. In these lessons I learned to play the clarinet which I'm playing now for 10 years. Later on I started playing bass clarinet and bass guitar as well. Lately I'm trying to figure out to play the saxophone.
At the moment you study at the pop academy of Amsterdam. What do you learn there?
It is a very varied education where I learn music theory, band lessons and band management.
Are you besides Orfeo working on other music projects?
I have "my own" band Sealex (where I play bass guitar ). And I am also active in a harmony orchestra (on clarinet and bass clarinet) and in a symphony orchestra (on clarinet). I also help with some small projects and for school I have a band too. In Orfeo my main focus will be on the bass guitar, but you can expect an occasioanlly bass clarinet here and there..
And if you're not making music, what do you do?
