Biography
In the expanding world of balfolk, Orfeo hopes to distinguish itself by creating it's own sound. They want to accomplish this by composing their own songs and by using a variety of instruments. The musicians of Orfeo come from totally different backgrounds like medieval music, classical music and metal and these influences are still prominent. Their music is typically suitable for balfolkdancing, however, also the non moving audience will be served.
The begin of 2010 brought their first
album: Inferno. It contains 11 songs, such as the Elf Fantasy Waltz,
Highway to Noordeloos and off course: Inferno. Several balls and stages
have met Orfeo, also festivals such as Elf Fantasy Fair, Folkwoods,
Summer Darkness, Castlefest and the Midvinterfestival in Denmark.
Orfeo
is: Erica (flutes), Lies (harp and hurdy-gurdy), Marco (12-stringed
guitar, electric guitar, theremin and hurdy-gurdy), Paul (electronic
doublebass and electric bass) and Rutger (drums and cajon). The members
of Orfeo are also involved in other musical projects such as Rama, Ball
Noir and Kelten zonder Grenzen. The Orfeo's themselves are also very
fond of dancing and can be found on many a folkbal!
