31-08-2010 Hank Highlandgames 2010

On sunday the 5th of september its time for the scottish/ Celtic festival in Hank (NL) (Also known as the Hank Highlansgames). They present the final of the European Champignonship of the Strongest Highlander. Big men in kilts throwing large trees... a real sensation...

 

This event will be framed by all sorts of activities and entertainment like re-enachtmentcamps from different periodes in history, a market, sheepdog demonstrations, birds in prey demonstrations, Reincarnatus, Abe de Verteller, Sassenachs, Hailander, pipe-bands, Kelten zonder Grenzen and Orfeo!

Kelten zonder Grenzen will play three intimate sets in their own tent and Orfeo will play on the stage form 13:00-15:00 hours.

03-08-2010 A bizar story

On sunday the 25th of juli we departed in good spirits to our gig in Breukelen (NL). We didn't know yet this day would have a bizar ending. We were welcomed hopitable and because the sound engineers had arranged an extra hour for our soundcheck, we began building up out et without any stress. The stage functioned as some sort of big sound board, so it was hard to work with the amplification, but the sound engineers took some exra effort and we could play a cosy set! There were not a lot of dancers, but it was fun to see the sitting audience watch the 'danceshow' (They even wondered wether the dancers belonged to Orfeo as well, hihi). After the gig we received a big picknickbasket from the organisation and we setteld down on the grass with al the dancers that stayed to eat all this jummy stuff. On youtube are 4 videos:

The second band that day took a long time for their soundcheck. Apparently there went something wrong with their technical rider, so the sound engineers didn't know what to expect. The program delayed for almost an hour, but nobody in the audience seemed to care. After their show we climbed on the stage to gather our things and there we witnessed a bizar scene: One of the soundengineers was lying on the ground and there was a lot of blood. Everybody walked around with startled faces. We learned that the other band had not been satisfied with their sound and that after an increasing argument, one of their bandmenbers had knocked down the sound engineer with an effect board. The ambulance and the police arrived quick. Luckily the soundguy wa already sitting up, but he had a awful wound on his head and he bleeded severely. We were in a shock about what happenend and the other band must have been so too. To knock someone down for reasons of not having a good sound is bizar! We hope something like this will never happen again and we wish a lot of recuperation and strenght to the soundguy!

07-07-2010 Parkpodium Boom & Bosch on the 25th of july

In the past few weeks Orfeo was busy organising the Orfest festival. What a great party is was! Everyone was gay and happy and this inspires us to think already about a third Orfest balfolkfestival.

 

Meanwhile we're preparing ourselves for a next gig: the 25th of july on the Parkpodium in the city of Breukelen (NL). It is a performance in the open air in a jolly old-fashioned music chapel. The majority of the public is used to sit down (there are a lot of chairs), so we look forward to surprise the party with a flock of dancers in front of the stage!

06-05-2010 Radio De Honte live radio interview

In the spring of 2010, Orfeo could be heard on Radio De Honte. Listeners have voted and Orfeo received a place on nr 3 in the top 25 with the song 'Fluitfeeks'! The whole top 25 can be heard on the 13th of may. Also, Orfeo will be interview live on the radio between 8:40-8:50 pm. Will you be listening?

Besides Orfeo, also our friends from Harmony Glen and the Gonnagles are in the top 25.
